Bush's Ultimate Success: Victory in Iraq

>> Tuesday, June 30, 2009

It’s amazing what is going on in Iraq today. At 5:00 EST, US troops have withdrawn from the major Iraqi metropolis areas. This is a clear Bush Administration success. Now, we all know Obama supporters are going to tout this as Obama’s success, but he had no part in this event. Matter of fact, he voted against the surge that has allowed for this event to occur.

This is a great step forward for Iraq and America, as we are set to celebrate our independence on Saturday. The Iraqis can now begin celebrating their democracy and picking up the pieces of a broken country. I wish the Iraqis well and hope this is a start of a great relationship with the United States.

Even though I am a veteran, I never served in combat, but I have known many who have served and continue to serve. It is truly the work of our men and women in uniform who made this a success. The men and women in uniform can leave Iraq knowing they have succeeded. Thank you to all who have and are continuing to serve and for preserving freedom around the world.

Working Out Formatting Issues

>> Saturday, June 27, 2009

Okay, I know my posts don't look great right now. I just gave my blog a makeover and lost some of the post formatting. I am working on it so it looks clean. It will probably take the better part of the weekend to get it done. I apologize for the formatting issue. It's only temporary! Have a great weekend!

Sen. Kerry wished Palin would “go missing”.

>> Thursday, June 25, 2009

I’ll never understand what is wrong with some people these days. First, we have Letterman and that whole debacle surrounding the comments he made about Gov. Palin and her daughter. We have Joy Behar on national television continually calling Gov. Palin “dumb” and hoping she is the Republican candidate in 2012 so they can destroy her. Now, we have Sen. Kerry wishing Palin would have disappeared. Are they that afraid of a smart, attractive woman with power, or am I missing something here?

Here’s what John Kerry said as reported by Glenn Thrush on Politico (which can be found by clicking here)

“John Kerry wishes Sarah Palin had done a Sanford.

Rachelle Cohen of the Boston Herald picks up the tale:

The Bay State senator was telling a group of business and civic leaders in town at his invitation about the “bizarre’’ tale of how South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford had “disappeared for four days’’ and claimed to be hiking along the Appalachian Trail, but no one was really certain of his whereabouts.
“Too bad,’’ Kerry said, “if a governor had to go missing it couldn’t have been the governor of Alaska. You know, Sarah Palin.’’

The crowd laughed. We threw a call into the Alaska governor's office just to if Palin thought it was amusing, too.”

Personally, I think the whole circus in WA D.C. should go missing so we can start off fresh. Palin might be one of the few people who will be able to clean up this mess that the Democrats are creating by introducing Cap & Trade (wonder how we’ll be able to eat then!) and Health Care Reform (more companies needing a bailout when insurance companies go under).

Another Unjust Sentence?

>> Wednesday, June 24, 2009

There sure is something wrong with the justice system these days. As we found out yesterday, singer Chris Brown plead guilty to felony charges pending from the incident with singer and ex-girlfriend Rhianna. At least he admitted to doing something wrong, but the California prosecutor, who charged Brown with those felonies, may have let Brown of easy. I am unsure if this is easy, harsh, or just right. Brown received no time behind bars. Brown was sentenced to 180 hours of labor in Virginia, 5 years probation, and a year of domestic abuse classes.

Why is it our society doesn’t care enough about domestic violence? It doesn’t matter what a person does, there is no legal reason to beat up another individual. Domestic violence is something I don’t take lightly and the prosecutor should have stayed consistent with other cases of domestic abuse. This has just shown our youngsters that it is okay to beat up someone and you won’t go to jail. This is a very disturbing message to be sending to our kids, especially young girls.

I’ve been reading some of the comments about this case on other sites and I can’t believe some of the comments people are saying. A couple of people are blaming Rhianna and think Brown was simply “just finishing what she started”. Really? You can’t beat someone to a bloody pulp because they started something. At any rate, this is an article that shows a lot of recent sentences for celebrities and debates this question.

Online Magazine Ideas

>> Tuesday, June 23, 2009

For those of you who are interested in starting a collaborative online magazine, I’ve found some software to use. I haven’t signed up for anything yet as I would like some input, since it’s just not me doing things. I am wanting some input on what type of topics you want to cover.

I am not sure about the logistics of everything, but if you have some suggestions, please email them to me at kjones422@comcast.net. I would like some input on a title and where you would like this to go. I am not set in what we would like to do just yet, but this is the fun part of starting stuff. If you have some ideas, let me know.

Back to the field he goes….

Being flexible is part of the Army lifestyle, but it is still hard sometimes to be flexible. I learned this real quick as a soldier, but it takes even more patience as an Army spouse.

Last week, my husband went to the field. We were so relieved it was supposed to be for only 3 days. He was supposed to be home for good on the 18th, while the rest of the unit was gone for an extended amount of time. Unfortunately, the unofficial Army flexibility policy came into effective.

He came home on the 18th and was so happy to see him. Well, when he walked through the door I could tell something was upsetting him. It turns out he was only home until Monday and had to go back out there, even though they were already done with what they needed to do. This is so frustrating, especially when you have things planned out.

Well, as an Army wife, I’ve once again had to adapt and overcome to the circumstances. The good thing is he won’t be gone too terribly long, but sometimes I just need a break. So, here I am with my girls trying to stay occupied.

We still don’t know when we will get leave. His unit is on wildfire watch and they have to have most people in the rear or on alert for the whole summer, so block leave disappeared. We were supposed to be on block leave this week, until this field activity and wildfire watch went into effect. We’re supposed to have leave sometime next month or in August and then they’ll be gone for another month training.

So, just like any other Army wife, I just pick up the pieces and keep on keeping on.
